THE PROLOGUE There is urgency in the Orbiters' request. Refugees currently in El Nysa are asked via mass message to please return to Thesa Station virtual reality area immediately. Zasere tells them that the next set of Refugees are scheduled to wake, but there's been an issue. On Thesa, refugees will find that the people in stasis are still apparently trapped in slumber. Most of them are complete strangers, but there's a chance you may recognize a familiar face or two. Normally, these people would wake up from their pods without issue, but due to a malfunction caused by the unforeseen force during The Descent, they have to go through extra measures to make this possible. Those in slumber require extra stimulation, something to keep their minds active. What better than a simulation of an area of El Nysa? Keeping their minds active requires an extremely involved simulation. Those subjected to the VR (prospective characters) will find themselves completely immersed in their new environment, believing themselves to be native Olympians. To wake up from the simulation, characters must work together to accomplish a certain objective(s) in the icy tundra. Characters in-game will be aware that this is a simulation, but this is good practice for properly interacting with El Nysa natives, isn't it? PROMPT: WINTER CAME ![]() The wind in the icy wasteland is bitter and frigid. You are wrapped up in a winter coat, but even still, the cold bites at your skin and leaves you yearning for a warm fire. Perhaps you're a merchant from the city, here to make a delivery, or you're a royal guard, sent to patrol the area. Who are you? The sky is the limit. One thing is certain — you won't snap out of your new identity until you finish a task. 1. Due to the vast diversity of the creatures on El Nysa and the fact that new ones are constantly being discovered, an important objective is to carefully chronicle different species. Unfortunately, to research these new species, they happen to need more than just a visual. More than just fleeting glances in over a snowy hill. Researchers are constantly looking for ways to secure... ![]() 3. You are stuck in a dilemma. On one hand, you are set to work for Olympia. One the other, you're not completely sure what is really expected of you, or who the man who gave you this mission truly is.When you come to, you will awaken in Thesa Station. All will be explained to you by Zasere or Sael via telepathic link. Your world is no more. The Storm has consumed it. We offer proof in the Observation Deck if you desire it, but it won't be an easy thing to stomach. We offer you a new life, in our planet of El Nysa. We just ask for your help in maintaining the vitality of El Nysa. What can we offer you in exchange for your help? PROMPT: STASIS UNIT ![]() You have found the massive section of Thesa known as the Stasis Unit. There’s no special access required to access this part of Thesa Station, but refugees are warned that it may not be for the faint of heart. Here, in large pods that nearly cover every square inch of the space, are all of the people the Orbiters have managed to rescue. Your loved ones, your greatest enemy, your next door neighbor— you might find them here. These people are in a state of deep cryosleep. Due to the damaging effects of The Storm, their bodies are not yet ready to be awoken. PROMPT: GET REKT ![]() The Orbiters have noticed that some of the refugees really miss their video games. The technology in El Nysa could be much worse, but it definitely leaves much to be desired. Which is why, after expressing relief that everyone awoke safely, the Orbiters have decided to provide a little fun in the form of video game competitions. Anything from old-timey arcade machines to state-of-the-art computers, consoles, and VR headsets (though you may be a little tired of VR right now...) is available, and yes, they have your favorite games! Enjoy PAC-MAN, Starcraft 2, or perhaps Dance Dance Revolution! Teach a friend how to play. Get unnecessarily angry and competitive. Most importantly, have fun. Keep fourthwalling to a minimum, please. Recommended playing: QWOP PROMPT: OMAGE
Upon receiving your mobile phone, you will be asked to set a username. Voila, you can now access the network! You can choose to send a message to the entire network, specific usernames, or you can try out the Orbiters’ service, Omage, which connects you to a random user. They thought this might be a good way for their new guests to make friends with each other...
Connecting to server... PROMPT: WILDCARD
You are welcome to write any scenarios in Thesa Station! Characters have been granted temporary access to the Observation Room, and are encouraged to study it carefully.
FINAL OOC NOTE
Please give toplevel priority to prospective characters! Current characters wishing to thread these scenarios with other current characters are encouraged to create separate logs. However, threads between 2 current characters are not eligible for Natha Orbiter REP.
These threads may be carried over as game canon if players choose! Players are encouraged to submit TDM threads as application samples, but they are not required. Please direct any OOC questions to the questions thread below! A TDM thread of AC length may be submitted HERE for 2 NATHA ORBITER REPUTATION POINTS. Current players may submit their thread at any time, and prospective players may submit a thread after acceptance. Please note that threads must contain at least five (5) log comments from your character. A toplevel counts as a comment. Network threads are not eligible.

...It's not important.
no subject
...you say that a lot, don't you? And not in the sense of just trying to make someone stop asking questions.
Just a hunch. ]
How gloomy. [ Is he teasing? A little maybe. If with a wincing sort of smile.
It's really sad, Slaine. Saying that sort of thing like that. ]
no subject
[Really, what else is he supposed to say to something like that? Speaking of gloomy, thankfully the exit from the Stasis Unit is in sight, and Slaine takes it upon himself to push open the door, making sure to hold it for Allen to step through. At least the scenery outside of the unit is less sterile and depressing.]
no subject
You aren't used to jokes much, are you...? [ Honestly that's like Link was. Link who, ah, well...
Though that stray thought and the holding of the door makes him hesitate and blink for a second, briefly frozen in an old thought, before he steps through and casts one look back to the Stasis Unit before the door is closed.
Row after row— ]
It's alright. [ And he stops for a moment to consider where they are before pointing... that way? He thinks he recalls seeing what looked like a recovery room of sorts near the Stasis Unit... ]
I told you, being in the sort of situation we are, you really don't have to be like that. [ or at least not to him. irony? yes
It's weird when he's the one the polite formalities are turned on. It's a bit unsettling somehow. Link was different. Link they all teased because it was such a chore to put up with him and, well—Allen had resented having a nanny. ]
It isn't like anyone here matters any more or less than anyone else.
[ That's the vibe he's getting more than anything else, and probably why it's bothering him as much as it is. ]
no subject
But what does he mean by be like that? What was that supposed to mean? He was just being himself. Then again, he's aware that his demeanour is less than pleasant at times, especially right now.
It's the last part that gets him though as his feet drag to a stop, head turning to look at Allen, really look at him this time. Did he honestly believe what he'd just said.]
That's not true.
no subject
Of course he does. And his expression is just mildly confused at how quickly the other comes to a stop. Did he really say something that wrong? ]
Why wouldn't it be...?
[ Treating others differently and speaking more formally with some than others, because of stations in life and rank and training—of course there's that. Allen himself does it quite a bit and is quite cognizant of it. But that doesn't mean anyone fundamentally matters more as a person.
And you seem about the same age as him and Allen no longer wears a uniform that commands a certain prescence; if anyone does, it's Slaine. Allen's hardly someone to be in deference to. And he'd always been uncomfortable with that aspect of being a Black Order Exorcist or treated like a priest anyway. ]
Even if we're from different places it doesn't really change that much.
no subject
[And he means that in the simplest of ways. Sure, there was the question of status in a society, but that's not what he's getting at. What he means is the value of their character, how good they are as a person, how kind they are. As far as Slaine's concerned, good and kind are qualities in humanity that are in short supply.]
Some individuals are better off never having existed at all.
[And he can think of quite a few in that regard.]
no subject
When one is speaking of humans and humanity, at least. The abominations that akuma were, corrupted humans souls that knew nothing but endless suffering—they should never have existed as such in the first place. They he lived to destroy so they could finally be at peace again. But they were unnatural things part of a perpetual cycle of misery, it's different. But humans, individuals...
It's true he tightens up a little at that. But that he holds his tongue as well, not just because he knows of course his own opinions are different from most people and has enough thought usually to keep them to himself so long as no one is hurting anyone else, but... also because someone who had Slaine's expression when Allen had first grabbed his shoulder—
It is someone who is fundamentally kind and suffering. And he isn't one easily deterred from that sort of belief. Even when that doesn't add up.
But it has also been why wars between humans... he hates them. They aren't his fight. ]
Why? [ It's gentle—but not without something shrewd as well. Gut human instinct and reading when things aren't quite adding up—the thing he's good at.
Also the thing that generally gets him in trouble. ]
Your friend—is it because that was something she believes too?
no subject
[Whatever semblance of control Slaine had managed to cobble together during their initial meeting in the Stasis Unit up until now is quickly beginning to unravel, as if Allen had picked at a single strand of his composure only to tug it free. His weight goes into his heels as he stands, gloved fingers curling into fists hanging at either side of his hips. Why did everything, everything in his life have to lead to misunderstandings?]
Princess Asseylum believed in the good of the people of Earth and Mars, to the point it nearly cost her her life. All she has ever believed in and striven for is peace.
[Those beliefs nearly landed her in an early grave, and Slaine had wanted to still hold those ideals himself, ideals that he had ironically instilled in the young princess, despite everything. He can't though, not anymore, not after everything he's endured. Not when the person he wishes didn't exist any longer was his very self.]
no subject
Even if suspended in sleep, her face, however briefly he saw it in the snap judgement of trying to piece together the situation while looking down the barrel of a gun... her face had looked kind too. ]
Then why? [ Because honestly, that part he doesn't get.
It's treading on thin ice, of course he knows that, and it's why while he speaks earnestly it's very softly as well, not even batting an eye at the outburst. ]
Why when it's something that would make her so sad? [ Because it would, wouldn't it?
"That's sad," he almost said before but held that part of his tongue. Because what Slaine said she believed—well, "Mars" has gone over his head for now but that's the situation, but fundamentally... It's something Allen believes too.
Just for him, it's less "peace" and more ending the cycle of misery. ]
Until she can wake up and strive for that again, wouldn't she want you to believe that too?
no subject
[Truly, he did. Despite the hate and abuse he received he believed that people were genuinely good. If anything there was something wrong with him. Unfortunately there's been a shift in his belief system since the assassination attempt on Asseylum's life, with hate stemming from both sides. While the world may still be honey and roses to Asseylum it sure as hell isn't for him. It never really has been.]
I can't bring myself to believe in a world that wants her dead.
[And that includes its people.]
1/2
That actually explains a lot. And that... That is actually sad.
You've gone and buried the kind person you were, didn't you?
It's frustrating, but he can understand that too. It's just sad, because like with Alma, once so kind and gentle, who became so lost in his rage and despair he would tear the world he once loved apart... he wasn't someone Allen could save. The person he loved—only that person could save him and Allen would believe in that to this day.
Does that mean she would be the only one who could save Slaine from that ugly sort of grief?
It's depressing. "Gloomy" indeed. And yet...
And yet he lifts his chin a little then and speaks softly. ]
..Then why don't you believe in this one?
[ It's quiet. Like perhaps... maybe he just realized that for himself, too. ]
Even if everything was that bleak.. it doesn't have to be anymore. [ Nea, in stasis, no longer in his body causing the entire war to upset and endanger everyone he knew. No world about to collapse in holy war. No world in which he was the traitor who might bring about the end of it all no matter how hard he fought that fate.
...no more akuma.
It makes him feel lost and adrift, frighteningly close to panicking and breaking down just because he is no one if not defined by his purpose, all of which is tied up in those, and yet... ]
Maybe we can make it better this time.
2/2
Maybe like it hurts a great deal to, but he cocks his head to the side and smiles anyway.
It's just a little tired. ]
She sounds like someone I'd like to meet someday.
no subject
There's an irrational feeling of jealousy that washes over him briefly at Allen's words - no one should go near Asseylum, no one deserved to-
But he realizes, all too quickly, how ridiculous he's being. What a mess. Everything is a mess.
His head hurts.]
I don't care about any of that...all I care about is her waking up.
no subject
His shoulders drop a little at that, relenting. ]
Mn...
I suppose so. [ That, at least, is something he imagines everyone on this station feels right now. More than anything, there's at least one person they want nothing more than to just wake up. ]
Come on, let's get you patched up. [ That old and reflexive, habitual gesture to help politely steer a comrade a little with a helpful hand at their shoulder—
—he doesn't do that. Just catches Slaine's eye as he's about to brush past and smiles a little sadly then.
It's just around the corner, if he remembers correctly. ]
no subject
Just how pathetic could he get?
It's a question he mulls over, falling further into himself, each step resonating hollowly throughout the corridor as he follows Allen's lead. Why, out of everyone else, did he have to be the one to survive? Why couldn't he just switch places with Asseylum and be done with it all?]
...Thank you.
no subject
Can I save them? from the depths of grief. To which he will always with resolution find some way to proceed, to try, but...
... that hasn't ended well in a long time. (And really, has it ever?)
He just smiles lightly—so painfully lightly—like it really isn't anything (it isn't, to Allen) and waves his hand lightly in wordless dismissal
It's alright. He doesn't mind; he wants to.
—ah and it looks like they found it. At least this... is probably medical section? There are metal cots and some equipment that it looks like Komui would use (scary), a lot of things Allen doesn't recognize, but in theory it shouldn't be so different he can't find something resembling alcohol and bandages. Right? ]
Here, I think.
no subject
You don't have to stay with me...you're not obligated to.
[There's no bite to his words - if anything he just sounds exhausted.]
no subject
Concussed people shouldn't treat their own head wounds. Even Allen will acknowledge that.
Actually, treating your own head wound is just a pain period. He'd know. He's tried to do it himself a number of times. Mostly he just ended up poking himself and wrapping his head up like a mummy.
Which is why, after watching for a moment and admittedly being a little torn, he's going to huff lightly as he reaches to help pop the latches—and turns the kit to face himself instead.
Please stop fumbling before you hurt yourself. Again.]I know. [ sit!! it'll be easier for both of them ]
no subject
He'll...have to make it up to him, somehow.]
