[ Apparently hyper intelligent canines or otherwise, dogs will be that — dogs. Silly of her to forget, considering her own dog isn't really a dog either ( just one programmed to act like one ), but the point is that she forgot, nonetheless. Remembers until maybe it's a little too late, as the metal seems to groan in a way where maybe that might not be the best idea and her body tenses at the expectation of what's coming next, and—

It's a slow, almost painful process. The creaking of metal isn't loud enough where things might sound fatal, but she can feel her weight shifting towards one side. Seatbelts help, in theory, except those are typically designed to stop sudden impact and she's pretty sure if this keeps up, she's falling out of her seat. The entire contraption leans forward from having too much weight on one foot and not enough on the other, and she's pretty sure she sees the ground get close and close until—

There's a hiss of air, and everything stops. No crash, no sudden demise, just a still mecha in the middle of a hangar standing perfectly still as if it's not in mid-stride. It feels like a really bad amusement park ride — a whole lot of vertigo without the fun.

But, surprisingly, while having the seatbelt carry a bulk of her eight and leaving her legs largely useless, she laughs. Nothing cruel, nothing hysterical, but — really, what are the chances that she'd pilot a mecha with a dog that put it into some kind of weird lock down.

A story for the ages, surely. She looks over to her partner, and cautiously reaches out once more: We might have to work on that. ]
