"Something like that," Inara said softly before pressing a kiss against River's head. She knew that she should tell her the absolute truth. That she should tell her that she had no idea when or even why Simon or any of the other crew might wake up and be there with them. But, she couldn't say that to River, not when her mind was so incredibly fragile.

She drew back a bit, her hands moving to River's shoulders and she smiled at the young woman. "But I'm here with you. I know I'm nothing like Simon... But, I'm here for you. You know that, don't you?"
