Being a soldier hadn't bothered Bucky. He wouldn't glamorize war and he certainly hadn't enjoyed the mud and the bullets flying, but he'd been a good soldier and he'd had something worth fighting for in the war. It's being a tool that had changed him. It had been being forced to fight other people's battles that he would have opposed. In the absence of something truly worth fighting for, Bucky just doesn't have much fight left in him. The skills are there, but the willingness to kill isn't.

He shakes his head. "I don't know, but if we can't see, we should assume we are so we don't walk off of a cliff. How does pain register in these simulations?"
