Damn Starfleet uniforms get different looking! Scotty recognizes it for what it is despite that, what with the insignia and all, and really it's like they're just popping out of the woodwork now, isn't it? Jim said he hadn't seen anyone from their recognizable timeline in five months and suddenly he's meeting Starfleet all over.

He's still not really put out by the barging in thing since it's not exactly anyone's fault, so like, whatever. Let's have a nice conversation. "There are worse anomalies than doors opening to the wrong place, but far be it from me to be optimistic enough to assume things won't get worse." Scotty.

Personally he thinks that Data is very interesting too, so the feeling is mutual: at least about the interest. He has no idea who Data is, can't place him, just, well. "So are you," he ventures, about Starfleet, since we're both in fact in uniform, and he pauses to watch what appears to be Data using his computer brain to figure out who he is. Hey, he works with the humanoid form of the Enterprise, it's fine. To steal Spock's shtick, it's fascinating.

"That's me," he starts, then pauses, because wait a minute, that's not quite right. "Did you say captain?"

He said captain.

A beat.

"And who are you?" He's not being rude, he's just still startled by the captain thing.
