He hasn't been smiling much, hasn't had much cause for it, but then again it's only been recently that he's starting to feel like a person again. The mild flirting feels almost like slipping into a suit he hasn't worn in years, not sure if it will fit anymore or if it will be awkward and not too worried about it either way. If he's awkward, then he's awkward. It's the least of his worries.
"Because I've been known to pick a lock on occasion, myself." Not that he has tools on him or any idea how these doors function, but breaking into places is sometimes necessary when you're living off the grid. He has the skills from before--from HYDRA--but he tries not to think about that now.
