[This is dangerous territory. While he doesn't remember confronting Akechi again after going into Shido's palace, he knows it is going to happen eventually. The danger here is that there's no real reason for Akechi not to just gun him down here. Shido was the real danger though and Akechi a pawn in that game - albeit a willing and very murderous one. He'd always been curious as to Akechi's reasons for following a slimeball like Shido, but he isn't sure if now's the time to ask.

Or how far Akechi truly remembers. The detective was smart. A hell of a lot smarter than Ryuji ever would be. He only made it as far as he had because of Makoto and Akira and Futaba doing most of the hard work. Ryuji just had to keep his mouth shut and play along.
