[ whatever else Stannis might have said about Victarion Greyjoy and their uneasy peace that they had found on El Nysa dies in his throat as Davos begins his tale. at first, it confirms what he had been hoping (and perhaps dreading): this was the Lord Seaworth that he had known. and then, Davos continues on, telling him that he yet lived in his Westeros, that Manderly had a different game afoot... that... ]

I thought you dead. After the Blackwater, perhaps I should have known better than to doubt your ability to survive. Would that there were more men like you, Davos.

[ in his own way, he had mourned the only man he might call "friend". thought that he had sent him to his death for little reason. and yet... all this time, he had survived. ]

Lord Too-Fat-- [ no, perhaps he owes the man more respect than that... ] Lord Manderly had his forces along with the Boltons and Freys. Do you mean to say that he meant to betray them all this time? For what purpose would Manderly have me believe you lost?

[ it may very well no longer matter, though be that as it may, it would seem that his fate had been shaping up to be quite different from the "Stannis Baratheon" that Jon Snow had spoken of.

It meant that same insanity he had fallen victim to hopefully did not await him. ]
