[Riku leads them down the corridor and desperately tries not to think about the people he knows they've lost and wonders what kind of favor it would be to keep that truth to himself… The truth will bring you pain, DiZ had warned him when he had woken in the space between the Realms and right now he can't help but think back to those words… to that very situation… maybe sleep would be preferable after all.
(And isn't that the greatest lie of all, because Riku will always choose the hard way for himself, will rather prefer to face the truth of things and stay awake, rather than to sleep in ignorance… but that doesn't mean he can't wish that sleep for Sora, for Kairi… because DiZ was right about one thing: Sleep is safety and there is nothing Riku wants more than for Sora and Kairi to be safe.)
Sora provides him with a good reason to break away from those musings though, gives him something else to focus on and earns himself another frown:]

[Not that he doesn't take it off every now and then, but most of the time he feels comfortable with the protection it provides… from the Darkness and from other magical influences. It's maybe not as sturdy as Terra's armor, but it's definitely not as heavy either… and Riku has always been more of a speedy fighter anyway.]
