[It's a strange predicament. They have no idea what's going on, the implications of anything. They don't particularly understand the branding, but it appears to be rather painful for the organic creatures--They're not entirely sure what the branding instrument will do to them, considering their body is actually 100% pure diamond. At the very least the powder will probably burn away and it'll probably still be painful on some level, but the thing they're most worried about is being exposed like that and the subsequent reaction (their sparkly hair makes them stick out enough as it is).
The idea of 'staying undercover' had been impressed heavily on them, and this would surely break that. They don't particularly want to snap the ropes, though they suspect they could easily. Apparently Diamond looks like a rather young and frail girl to most of these people (what the fuck is a girl??) and they've been wondering about what to do as they're hustled up to be branded next,
