For all of the hard work that they'd put in, there's nothing any of them could have done to predict some Storm rolling through and tearing Earth apart. 76 has had plenty of time to dwell on it now, and all he can feel about it is anger. They'd all done their best, for so long, to try and make the world a better place. Then without any warning, it's all ripped away and rendered pointless. There's nothing else that could make someone feel smaller in the greater universe than that.
All that suffering he'd done, and for what? To end up stuck on some planet on the other side of the universe.
It's hard not to flinch when met with that giant smile of Reinhardt's. It's been so long since Jack was on the receiving end of it, and it makes his chest twist as he tightens his grip on the log.
The effects of the simulation seem to be solid enough, creating a whole fake past for Reinhardt to pull on when questioned further. 76 wonders when it would begin to break down. Could someone be trapped in a fake world like this indefinitely? He sure as hell hopes not.
They move down the hill toward the camp, 76 adjusting his stance so that neither of them stumble down the incline. The task is almost completed, but he doesn't know when exactly the simulation will end. He can see the fake people at the campsite turning to greet them, their faces filled with relief.
