THE PROLOGUE There is urgency in the Orbiters' request. Refugees currently in El Nysa are asked via mass message to please return to Thesa Station virtual reality area immediately. Zasere tells them that the next set of Refugees are scheduled to wake, but there's been an issue. On Thesa, refugees will find that the people in stasis are still apparently trapped in slumber. Most of them are complete strangers, but there's a chance you may recognize a familiar face or two. Normally, these people would wake up from their pods without issue, but due to a malfunction caused by the unforeseen force during The Descent, they have to go through extra measures to make this possible. Those in slumber require extra stimulation, something to keep their minds active. What better than a simulation of an area of El Nysa? Keeping their minds active requires an extremely involved simulation. Those subjected to the VR (prospective characters) will find themselves completely immersed in their new environment, believing themselves to be native Olympians. To wake up from the simulation, characters must work together to accomplish a certain objective(s) in the icy tundra. Characters in-game will be aware that this is a simulation, but this is good practice for properly interacting with El Nysa natives, isn't it? PROMPT: WINTER CAME ![]() The wind in the icy wasteland is bitter and frigid. You are wrapped up in a winter coat, but even still, the cold bites at your skin and leaves you yearning for a warm fire. Perhaps you're a merchant from the city, here to make a delivery, or you're a royal guard, sent to patrol the area. Who are you? The sky is the limit. One thing is certain — you won't snap out of your new identity until you finish a task. 1. Due to the vast diversity of the creatures on El Nysa and the fact that new ones are constantly being discovered, an important objective is to carefully chronicle different species. Unfortunately, to research these new species, they happen to need more than just a visual. More than just fleeting glances in over a snowy hill. Researchers are constantly looking for ways to secure... ![]() 3. You are stuck in a dilemma. On one hand, you are set to work for Olympia. One the other, you're not completely sure what is really expected of you, or who the man who gave you this mission truly is.When you come to, you will awaken in Thesa Station. All will be explained to you by Zasere or Sael via telepathic link. Your world is no more. The Storm has consumed it. We offer proof in the Observation Deck if you desire it, but it won't be an easy thing to stomach. We offer you a new life, in our planet of El Nysa. We just ask for your help in maintaining the vitality of El Nysa. What can we offer you in exchange for your help? PROMPT: STASIS UNIT ![]() You have found the massive section of Thesa known as the Stasis Unit. There’s no special access required to access this part of Thesa Station, but refugees are warned that it may not be for the faint of heart. Here, in large pods that nearly cover every square inch of the space, are all of the people the Orbiters have managed to rescue. Your loved ones, your greatest enemy, your next door neighbor— you might find them here. These people are in a state of deep cryosleep. Due to the damaging effects of The Storm, their bodies are not yet ready to be awoken. PROMPT: GET REKT ![]() The Orbiters have noticed that some of the refugees really miss their video games. The technology in El Nysa could be much worse, but it definitely leaves much to be desired. Which is why, after expressing relief that everyone awoke safely, the Orbiters have decided to provide a little fun in the form of video game competitions. Anything from old-timey arcade machines to state-of-the-art computers, consoles, and VR headsets (though you may be a little tired of VR right now...) is available, and yes, they have your favorite games! Enjoy PAC-MAN, Starcraft 2, or perhaps Dance Dance Revolution! Teach a friend how to play. Get unnecessarily angry and competitive. Most importantly, have fun. Keep fourthwalling to a minimum, please. Recommended playing: QWOP PROMPT: OMAGE
Upon receiving your mobile phone, you will be asked to set a username. Voila, you can now access the network! You can choose to send a message to the entire network, specific usernames, or you can try out the Orbiters’ service, Omage, which connects you to a random user. They thought this might be a good way for their new guests to make friends with each other...
Connecting to server... PROMPT: WILDCARD
You are welcome to write any scenarios in Thesa Station! Characters have been granted temporary access to the Observation Room, and are encouraged to study it carefully.
FINAL OOC NOTE
Please give toplevel priority to prospective characters! Current characters wishing to thread these scenarios with other current characters are encouraged to create separate logs. However, threads between 2 current characters are not eligible for Natha Orbiter REP.
These threads may be carried over as game canon if players choose! Players are encouraged to submit TDM threads as application samples, but they are not required. Please direct any OOC questions to the questions thread below! A TDM thread of AC length may be submitted HERE for 2 NATHA ORBITER REPUTATION POINTS. Current players may submit their thread at any time, and prospective players may submit a thread after acceptance. Please note that threads must contain at least five (5) log comments from your character. A toplevel counts as a comment. Network threads are not eligible.

Reinhardt Wilhelm | Overwatch | OTA
1.
Perhaps there is nothing more embarrassing than wading through knee deep snow, acting as a personal snowplow for the person behind him while carrying a little plastic baggie. He didn't trust himself with the dart after all. So he's in poo duty. How far a former knight of the realm has fallen. But he has his mission and no task, no matter how big or small should be ignored just because he was above it.
Though it might help if he didn't go around trying to lure the beast by calling out for it with a yell of "Come out and face me, you furry coward!" when he reaches one of the many caves. If he keeps yelling like that, he might just cause an avalanche.
2
Reinhardt was of hearty northern stock. The huge old man seems to weather the chill better than most would. In fact, his body heat from his sheer size alone seems to help him. But it also makes thing a little more dangerous, as snow melts quickly on his great shoulders leaving him with wet clothing.
But he can't stop now. If you stop in this cold, you die. Anyone knows this. The once knight sets to his task. He looks for large pieces of trees that have fallen due to heavy ice. He finds a really thick one, nearly three times as large as himself.
Setting his feet he starts to lift the massive thing with a loud grunt. His back threatens to give out as he notices someone passing by. "Hallo!! Could you help me with this. I think if we use this as a center pole, we can make a very large tent!"
3
I WILL NOT!!
[ The old former knight's voice is a near bellow as he stands in front of the wagon, setting his feet. The large man isn't going to let the thing get past him without a fight. ]
I won't let this go a step further unless we remove the weapons!
[ Morally, there is no question. There is right and there is wrong. Smuggling weapons is wrong. Letting the people starve is wrong. His black and white solution is to dump the weapons and take the food in and then die a noble death doing what is right. ]
If you are afraid, you can leave this cart to me. I will take the food. I will accept my fate. I will not let them starve and I will not let them die. I will not!
[ It might take a bit to convince him otherwise. ]
Get Rekt
[ Honestly, Reinhardt is just mashing buttons until things worked. He's sure somewhere, young Hana is just cringing at his amazing gaming abilities of "hit the button until it does a thing".
He is totally gloating when he wins because let's face it, it's not often that he even plays these things. Heroes of justice have no time for video games. Why trounce fake evil when there is real evil to defeat? But he still won and now his poor opponent is replaced by a new one.
Again?
[ And he's grinning like a damn excitable kid. It looks really funny on someone that old. ]
Oh good! I was just getting the hang of this thing. We'll go as many times as you wish!!
[ Someone also has no indoor voice. ]
I accept your challenge and may the best man win!!
[ And here's one scarred up, beefy palm held out for a manly handshake. ]

Anything else you want to do with Reinhardt, perhaps stuck in a blizzard or maybe just watch the stars in the observation room with him. Anything goes
winter - 2 HELLO DARLING
Something... about a tent? Help with the— Oh.
It clicks when he sees how the other man is straining, and without further delay he rushes forward to help.
"Are— Are you certain of this?" he manages as he throws his comparatively negligible weight into helping keep the tree trunk upright. "Perhaps we would be better served searching for a cave—"
no subject
"If you could lead me back towards the camp, I would be forever in your debt." And should the weather turn suddenly worse, then he would accept the cave and likely fret for the rest of the night.
no subject
That seems like a rude thing to ask, so he just nods in a stunned fashion instead. He remembers passing camp on the way here, but he may have gotten himself turned around in all these simulated trees. He's confident it's in this direction, at least...
"This way," he beckons, even as the wind picks up and snow starts to fall all around them anew.

1!
And, when he yells out once again his challenge to a reclusive mountain-dewlling cat, she can't help but roll her eyes behind him. There's no way that this isn't invoking massive amounts of deja vu--at the very least, there was the time he issued his personal challenge to a bunch of omnic extremists on that one mission that was both unsanctioned, and supposed to be stealthy. Definitely the one on gun duty, she tries her best to outstride him now, or to at least get as close to him as possible so she doesn't need to yell, too.
'You know, we should probably avoid making so much sound if we want this to work. We must think like hunters. Why don't we try tracking one, and using that fish to lure it out?'
no subject
It brings a grateful smile to his face before it turns to a little frown that could almost be a pout if it had been on someone years younger than him. The young lady was trying to kill all his fun! "But I am not a hunter. I am a knight!" Or well, he was, once. "But I suppose I can stop calling them out. These felines clearly have no sense of honor."
He heaves an insulted sigh, as if this cat is supposed to somehow adhere to his concept of that and roots through his bag for some of the fish they had caught earlier. "I can put it close to me to thaw it. It will make a terrible stink, I'm afraid, but if they smell it, maybe?" At least he's trying to do it Angela's way.
no subject
It's a hard balance, keeping her logical concerns in-line with the reality that this is all an illusion.
'They are cats. Not dogs. Everyone knows they're more about the ends justifying the means.'
Once that's out of the way, she tilts her head just so, after a quick nod. 'Yes. They like fish, don't they? So, the worse the stink is, the better. I believe we are not far from a cave we might try.'
As it so happens, there's an outcropping she's able to point to which is, in fact, less than 300 meters away.

2
On the other hand, it does make certain things easier. Like when he comes across old friends who believe themselves to be Olympian and therefore have little reason to be suspicious of him.
Except for the visor. That's always going to make people suspicious.
Granted, the nostalgia that runs through him when he hears that booming voice isn't something he can help, nor the way that he sighs to himself in quiet (but slightly fond) exasperation. Before he's even thinking about it, he's approaching the other side of the trunk.
"Sure you aren't gonna throw your back out, old man?" he asks as he bends down to help. Granted, the cryosleep hadn't kept the retired Crusader down for too long, all things considered.
no subject
He pauses in his tree lifting when he hears the man approach. It's from his blind side, but the man sounds friendly enough and...strangely fond. Odd. He doesn't recognize the voice. When he turns his head to catch a glimpse, his brows furrow at the strange looking eye-ware. But he can't linger and stare (it's rude for one and the tree is actually pretty damn heavy for two).
"Me? Bah! I am as fit as a fiddle! I am still every inch the man I was 30 years ago!" And if he hadn't been hauling a tree, he surely would have done some pretty impressive flexing (and likely indeed thrown out his back doing it). "But I thank you for your assistance. This will be perfect to build off of. I can make a tent large enough for a bonfire with this and it will keep many more warm than the smaller tents. If you would like to help with that as well, I would be grateful. I'm the only carpenter around here." Because he sort of remembers that he used a hammer...so the VR had supplied that he went from Knight to Carpenter once he got too old.
no subject
For all the Reinhardt might be under the influence of the simulation, he hasn't changed much in terms of demeanor. How many times had he insisted he could still fight, even as age started to take its toll on him? Not that Jack is in much of a position to judge.
Carpenter, huh? It might be a strange substitute for what Reinhardt really does, but it's not that difficult to play along. Jack has been playing a part for years now, after all. "What kind of canvas do you have in mind for a tent that large?" he asks, not sure if Reinhardt has thought this through completely. Even so, he wraps his arms around the other side of the trunk and begins to lift. Between his super strength and Reinhardt's muscles, they should have no trouble carrying it to wherever it needs to go.
There's something nice about being able to interact with someone he once called friend without having to worry over all the baggage that goes along with it. Granted, that will eventually come, when the simulation ends and Reinhardt remembers his true identity.

It's Reinhardt. They cooked up Reinhardt. They cooked him up on a snowy mission somewhere between Deadlock Days Long Since Past and Ice Cold Irony. Well ain't that a weird way to re-unite... If nothing else, McCree takes absolute comfort in the familiarity of Reinhardt's booming voice.]
Come on' big guy. This ain't what you think.
[And absolute frustration in knowing he means what he says. Because it's exactly what he thinks.]
Can't beat smuggling with integrity, any fool knows that.
no subject
And because he's an actual knight, or at least used to be before he got too old, Reinhardt knows this is exactly what it looks like and he also knows in his heart of hearts that it's wrong. So. Very. Wrong. ]
I know what this is. Some blackguard has used us and our mission of mercy to bring these people not only their salvation but also their deaths! There is a traitor who has set this all up and I will not stand for any of this!
[ He glowers, his good eye narrowing dangerously. ] I might be a fool, but I am an honest fool. Could you sleep at night knowing that you ferried these into the town and that women and children are going to die because you would not fight for them? I know I cannot. So I will not be a part of this. I will bring in the food, but not the weapons. If you are scared to die, you can stay behind with them. Whoever was supposed to get them will come after them and you can stop them then.

Thankfully, it isn't too hard to spot a seven-foot-something tall man. ]
Reinhardt!

When was the last time he had seen her? The funerals? He's not going to bring such a painful thing up to the young lady though. Instead, he grins hugely at her, even as his 8bit fighting guy dies in the background. ]
AH! Fraulein!! It's been a while! You are here as well then?
no subject
[ She's grinning at him. It's impossible for her to not do so because it feels so good to see more friends from home. Making them here is easy, but it isn't the same and they don't replace the ones she already made. ]
I am. Angela is too! It looks like the crew is getting back together here. [ Lena giggles. ]

winter came 1.
[ Though, when he's shouting, Bruce says dryly, ]
You might not want to shout.
no subject
He frowns a little at the small dry scolding and he turns to look down at the man. ] Why not. If these creatures know what's good for them, they'll come out for us. We're not going to hurt them. I was just letting them know that they are cowards for hiding away!
I could also tell them we have fish for them. If that would work. [ Tell, bellow at the top of his lungs...same thing really. ] The quicker we get this done, the quicker we can get you back to the warmth. [ Because Reinhardt's concern is never for himself. He's fine in the cold. ]
no subject
[ There's no bite to his statement, the cold does enough of the sting. This man's perspective is vastly different from Bruce's own, that much was already clear. ]
The quicker we get warm. [ On this, they agree. He's not ruling out Reinhardt being a meta, but Bruce likes not to assume. ] Set out the fish. Then let's find somewhere to wait.

3 hails for the king!
[Noble death or not, it wouldn't accomplish anything. Atsushi is breaking out in a nervous sweat, closing his eyes. Think. Think. What are their options? What would Dazai -...
Okay, nevermind that. Even if the terrorist is a lady; especially then.]
We could sabotage the weapons somehow? As long as they don't notice right away, that would mean we're safe... but it wouldn't solve the terrorist problem, either. [Not to mention that he... doesn't actually know how to sabotage weapons.]
Then... [He looks up at Reinhardt, still nervous, but far more determined than anything else.] Please consider this.
[He lays out his plan as quickly and simply as he can:
Everything will be delivered, seemingly as planned - but in one of the crates, instead of weapons (or possibly under them), there will be Atsushi. He can hide there until the cargo is stored somewhere - and then he can come out and call in Reinhardt. Together they can capture the terrorists, and return the weapons to Olympia.
If nothing else, it will put Atsushi at risk instead of Reinhardt - and Atsushi is hard to kill. Besides... it's not as if the mountain of a man that is Reinhardt could hide in a crate.]
no subject
I don't like it. [ He says it bluntly. ] I was a knight once, you know. I can still act as a shield to you. And I do not care if they want to kill me. I have their weapons and I will use those weapons on them instead! Or we can give them to the people along with the food. Arm those innocent folks who only wish to live in peace so that they will not be terrorized after we depart again. But I cannot stand by and let those miscreants get their hands upon these weapons. But if we captured one alive, we could find out who it is that is a traitor on our side. So as much as I do not like this plan, I will let you do it. But. [ And it's a huge but ] we give the weapons to the suffering people and we bring the terrorists to justice!
no subject
Without the weapons for evidence, we can't do a lot about any traitors in Olympia... and I'd rather not kill anyone, if it's at all possible. [An "if" that's even bigger than that "but", really. Atsushi knows that, but the intent is there. Killing may be acceptable in self-defense, but it doesn't accomplish anything - which is another reason why he's not very fond of the idea of leaving weapons here.
Still, something's gotta give.] ... All right. Half the weapons. We can leave half the weapons here, and hope they don't fall into the wrong hands - but half the weapons go back to Olympia for evidence.
That's acceptable, isn't it?
[It's not easy to stare down a man several heads taller and about ten times as broad as you, but Atsushi does his best. He, too, has principles that he tries to stick to... even though he possibly has more faith in Olympian justice than it deserves.]

Well, I am seeing this sort of thing for the first time. And it is really stunning. It makes me feel so small, to see the stars like this. To think I would finally see such things. I keep expecting myself to wake up at any moment and be told I was having a dream. But this is no dream, ja? This...is real. The large scarred palm is eyed, before pale, chilled hand rests in his grip. ]

When he looks back up, he's grinning broadly and trying not to stare too overly much. Her ears remind him so much of those elves he had read about as a very young boy. He doesn't want to be rude though, so he shelves his excitement in order to focus on his competition. ]
Of course. I know that in battle, a woman can be just as skilled if not more. So I know I will have a challenge with you. But if you don't know how to I'll be more than happy to teach you. Come here next to me. This here, this stick thing makes your person up there move around. [ He jiggles around the joystick a little, ] And you see these buttons. [ He pokes each one a few times. ] They make the person on the screen do things. Like that. And that's how you play. Your guy has to beat up my guy before the time runs out.
